Why mental health is more important than physical health???
This is just my personal opinion on why mental health plays a more vital role in life than physical health. And it doesn’t mean that physical health is not important, it has its own significance and importance.
Mental health is nothing but being conscious of our thoughts and having control over our thoughts. If there is a big meeting coming up, our mind runs several scenarios of how we are going to mess up the meeting, and that increases the heartbeat, we become anxious and feel stressed. Even though you are fully prepared and are confident enough, you might really mess up the meeting. But if you are aware of your thoughts, take some deep breaths, and go with a positive attitude, you might do an even better job than you expected. This is just one of many scenarios where mental health comes into the picture.
I have read multiple books on how to improve my mental health and be conscious of my thoughts. There are multiple theories on mental health and ways to avoid anxiety, stress, etc. We will see these in detail in the coming paragraphs. But before that, I would like to explain a little bit about why we experience anxiety and stress.
Anxiety and stress are two different things that our mind makes up while running thousands of things in parallel. I am not sure if I am making any sense right now, but let me explain. Suppose, you are driving a geared motorcycle on a busy street. Your mind is already occupied with lots of things right now, shift the gear paddle, right hand on the accelerator, left hand on the clutch, eyes focused on the road and suddenly out of nowhere a car comes from the right and you just missed a terrible accident by inch of a second. How do you feel right at that moment??? Just think of this scenario, place yourself in this scenario. Your heart skips a beat and you feel your heart pounding very hard and your head exploding. Here if you observe, your mind is already running multiple things at that moment and suddenly there is some immense amount of work that comes into your mind which causes anxiety and stress.
I am no doctor or even attended any medical school but I have experienced things in life and thought of sharing them with you.
In the book, the power of the subconscious mind, the author Joseph Murphy talks about how our subconscious mind defines our thought process. He explains with examples how we can prep our subconscious mind to get the results we wanted. A simple trick to prep our subconscious mind is to repeat the result that we want again and again. We can just do it like a prayer before going to bed every night or imagine ourselves in that position that we would like to be and enjoying the success. This will get into our subconscious mind which will help us in achieving the goal and soon enough we will be enjoying the success.
In the book, Ikigai basically means the thing that you love to do, that you are good at, that you can be paid for, and that the world needs. Here, we need to find that one particular thing in life that makes us happy and would love to do even at the age of 70.
Recently, I have started reading “Think like a monk” by Jay Shetty. This book is an abundance of knowledge on personal development. This book mainly talks about how a monk thinks in various situations in life and how a normal person can implement the same. We generally think that monks don’t have any ego, jealousy, etc. When they do have ego and jealousy, they know how to control their thoughts and stay away from negativity. All we have right now, be it money or fame, it doesn’t matter until your mental health is alright. We should always give importance to it.
TIP: These personal development books should not be read in a general manner, page by page. Every time you sit down to read this type of book, open the index page and depending upon your mood and interest — select the chapter and complete. This way you will get the answer you require at that moment and you feel fulfilled.
Thanks for reading it this far. I hope you got some information on mental health.
Live, Laugh and Experience life. Cheers!!!
