Digital Detox refers to a period of time where a person voluntarily refrains from using any digital devices like smartphones, laptops, tablets, etc.

It is just like old days where we were happy living the life, we lived without any disturbances of phone notifications, social media messages, etc. Think about it when is the last time you checked your phone for WhatsApp messages?? I hope it’s not more than 1 hour. It’s just that we have got addicted to these applications that we forgot how we used to live without the applications. It is for sure that the technology now is far more superior to old days but people still had social contacts and were connected with other people. In fact, people were more attached to other persons and treated them as their own family and helped each other. Unlike now, in our busy days, we do not have time to talk to our parents at least once a day. Hence, I decided amidst the hustle-bustle of our busy lives to take a digital detox and reflect on myself. But you can ask me, what things can we do to enjoy the time without digital devices? Well there you go my friend, think about your childhood where you used to spend a lot of time without phones and still enjoyed the time. We need to agree that our childhood was super awesome. Then why not we do the things we enjoy the most. Here I am going to list down some of my personal favorite activities to do during the digital detox.

My Digital Detox activites

  1. Cooking

You can cook. Well, I am not a master chef, but to learn basic things like cooking rice, dal, some curry, some sweets are a big plus. It helps you keep your mind off from certain things that disturb you. Learning cooking saves you a lot of money, as we spend a lot on an item from hotel. If we cook the same thing at home, it won’t cost that much. So give it a try if you want to impress your friends and family with delicious food.

2. Spend time with your family

When is the last time you sat with your mom, dad, and siblings and talked with each other? We have to give the utmost priority to our family as they are the people who are responsible for the person you are today. Spending time with them is the least you can do to repay it back. If you sit with mom and dad and chit chat for some time and then see their face, they will be smiling and happy. It makes you proud that you are responsible for their happiness. You can also take a walk with your dad, just like old times. In our childhood, we used to have a family outing day where we go to a picnic to our nearest park, eat snacks, play, and return home with a big smile on our face filled with happiness. Ahh!!! It brings back many memories. We can do it again. You can plan a getaway with your family and relive the same moments.

3. Play outdoor games with your friends

Remember the days where your friends used to call to play the cricket match in the nearby playground and that used to be so much fun. In these busy days, we forgot the fun and joy of playing cricket. Not only cricket you can play any games with your friends that gives you joy and happiness.

4. Read Books

Books are the best friends one can have. They give an immense amount of knowledge along with the joy of reading. An author writes a book based on the whole experience of his/her life (self — help books). Thus, you read a good book, you will get to know how to tackle certain situations in life without much difficulty. You can also read fiction or any other book that you feel good about. Here I am going list my favorite 5 self — help books that can change the way of your life.

1. The monk who sold his Ferrari by Robin Sharma

2. Ikigai - The Japanese Secret to a Long and Happy Life

3. Attitude is everything by Jeff Keller

4. Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki

5. The 100$ Startup by Chris Guillebeau

5. Exercise and Meditation

Giving some work for your body is very good for your health. Same with your mind. Exercising for at least half an hour results in you being in good health. Meditation gives you calmness and relieves stress.

There you go my friend, That’s my digital detox.

Live, Laugh, and Experience Life. Cheers!!!
